Fang the Wall Cat

Baby was sitting by the wall talking to Kitty. Baby, of course, wasn’t really talking, not in English anyway. But Kitty seemed to understand. Kitty meowed and talked right back. Aunt Lisa was over talking to Mommy when they saw Baby sitting by the wall. They didn’t pay much attention at first, just kept on talking to each other.

Aunt Lisa looked over curiously when Kitty meowed about how bad the cockroaches were tasting lately. Then Mommy looked over too.

"I thought Buster was out on the patio," Mommy said.

"Yeah," Lisa said frowning. She walked over to the glass patio doors and nodded. "He’s camped out under the ferns in the garden."

Mommy walked over and sat down looking at Baby. "Honey, who are you talking to?"" she asked.

Baby understood a lot more things than he could talk about. "Kiiy," he said pointing at the wall.

Aunt Lisa came over and sat down too. "Kiiy?" she said.

"Um, hmm, Kiiy," he said. Sometimes you had to explain things very slowly for the big people. For some reason they couldn’t seem to understand about his new friend.

At first everyone thought it was just the family’s own cat. But Buster was all the way across the garden. Mommy didn’t know quite what to think of all this.
